Czaros' Advent Calender - Day 1 - Top 5 Anime Songs

Christmas is soon and I decided to do an Advent Calender on my blog. Every day I'll post a short post, and a bigger post twice a week.

Today I would like to share my top list of Anime songs. The rule for this list is that all entries will be songs with lyrics, not instrumental themes.

#5 - Attack on Titan - Vogel in Käfig
The song's name translates to Bird in a cage, which can easily be referred to the fact that people have to live inside the walls, like in a cage surrounded by titans. The song beings calmly in both lyrics and the music and gets darker and more serious as it goes on.

#4 - One Piece - We Are!
The first and in my opinion, the best opening from the wonderful series One Piece. The song has this adventurous feeling to it, fitting perfectly with the anime, the Straw Hat Pirates and their spirit of adventure.

#3 - Attack on Titan - Guren no Yumiya

Both opening themes from the first season of Attack on Titan are performed by Linked Horizon and they are both epic masterpieces, but I like Guren no Yumiya slightly more than Jiyuu no Tsubasa. The song features epic rock, orchestra and singing. It manages to get you pumped for the episode ahead and it fits well to the seriousness of the anime.

#2 - Full Metal Alchemist - Ready Steady Go!
My first encounter with FMA was through Stupid Mario Bros by richalvarez. Its creator loves FMA and the series had many music themes from FMA. However, I didn't know this song until I played Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan! where this song was the final song of the game. It was my favorite song in that game and now my favorite anime opening.

#1 - Full Metal Alchemist - Bratja (Brothers)

This emotional song plays during multiple moments in the Full Metal Alchemist. Its lyrics and sung in Russian and its sung by Russian people. The lyrics are beautiful and choosing Russian might have made it even better. The reason this song gets the number 1 spot is because I really love the melody and the lyrics have a strong emotional connection to the series and further adds to the theme of family and brotherhood.
